Thoughts to Live by -

"Today I can and will begin my life anew."

"I am a miracle; there is no one exactly like me for I am uniquely me and therefore impossible to compare with others."

"The only real failure is in giving up, therefore, I will persist until I reach my goals."

"Until you accept and make peace with who you are you'll never be content with what you have."

"Develop your character and your reputation will take care of itself."

"Making it to the top first requires you getting off your bottom."

  Your Voice Matters

As I travel the United States it has become evident that young people have good opinions and should be used as credible resources. I not only speak to over half a million youth annually but, I ALSO LISTEN! They are intelligent, knowledgeable, and capable and so are the caring adults who try to lead them in positive directions.

It is my hope that this newsletter reaches over 50,000 people this year giving a voice to young people and the adults who guide them. The goal is to bring together youth and adult leaders by providing stories, comments and other educational resources. I thank you for your support and encourage you to use and pass this newsletter on to anyone you think would benefit. I offer thoughts and opinions and in no way intend to offend or insult anyone. I am sure you understand.

Should you like to add something that you think would benefit the masses of in-purpose people please feel free to email me at jeffyalden@aol.com.

Operating with the Truth

When you state the truth, you succeed. It is so important, especially as role models, to act and speak the truth so that our young people know it still exists. State the truth and people will believe you and follow you.

For example, if you exaggerate a problem to increase your income or personal gain, you run into problems. People can sense the lie, no matter how sincere you act. If you are caught, the penalties are painful and long lasting.

You must look people in the eye, without hesitation, and be truthful in dealing with all situations.  (top)

Integrity

Integrity means you stick to your personal code of conduct. You stick to what you decide is right and wrong.

When you live with integrity, you succeed. You are open and honest. Your life is uncomplicated and less stressful.

When you have good integrity you have no reason to lie. You can look at yourself in the mirror. You have nothing to hide.

What is personal integrity?

Personal integrity is this simple. If honesty is to tell the truth than integrity is to live the truth. You can look integrity up in the dictionary and it will tell you words like completeness, wholesomeness, etc. Keep it simple - your integrity is who you are in the dark. It is who you are when there is nobody watching. It is what you would do if you knew that you would never be found out.

No one needs to tell you what is right or wrong. You can see and decide for yourself.

You know the truth when you see it. You know you are using integrity when you look in a mirror.

When you deceive your partner or friends, you both lose a little. If you lie to your spouse or friends, you lose a little. Whenever you abandon what you know to be true, you lose. (top)

7 Benefits of Living with Integrity

1. When you stick to what you know is right or wrong, you donāt regret anything you have done.

2. People follow your example and act more honestly.

3. Your powers of observation are more accurate. You can see the truth about others more easily.

4. No need to keep your stories straight as your stories are facts. Less mental work is required.

5. You have fewer personality conflicts with others even when you are aggressive.

6. When you make a mistake, it is easy to accept responsibility and move forward.

7. You earn the reputation as a person with integrity. For example, employees brag about honest bosses. (top)

Jeff's Thought

Today's youth are more concerned with their rights and their privileges than their responsibilities and their obligations.

Whose fault is this? I think it is the responsibility of the parents. They need to start holding their kids responsible for their actions, circumstances, conditions, but most importantly the choices they make.

When our youth learn to accept responsibility it will be then and only then that they will have the power to change their future. It is time we stop babying our youth and start preparing our youth. If they don't learn to take responsibility today, they will not take responsibility tomorrow. (top)

An Athlete's Prayer

It was right before the big one and the football player said,
"Excuse me guys for just a sec while I go bow my head."
And in the quiet of that room
The football player prayed,
"Oh God if nothing hear me now
I know that fate is made."

"So help us Lord to win this game,
It's the big one, man, you see,
If we lose this game that's it for us,
Please do this, Lord, for me."

And as his body knelt in prayer,
He looked up to the sky,
"And while I'm here, and have some time,
I need to ask you why?"

"They say you never help teams win,
Just do it once I pray,
We will pay you back in kinder deeds
Or in another way."

"The reason I can't help you win,"
The Lord just then replied,
"Is as you're asking me to win,
So is the other side."

"I'm everybody's father and
I must not take one side,
So games are played all on your own
Or they would all be tied."

"But that doesn't mean you shouldn't pray,"
He answered him with care,
"You can pray that players don't get hurt
And that all the calls are fair."

"And then I won't just watch the game,
I'll bless it with my care,
Because dear son you need to learn
That life's not always fair."

And while the player heard this voice,
He bowed his head in prayer,
"I pray for fairness," said the boy
"And for your tender care."

"You shall be blessed," the Lord replied,
"Your team and you the same,
And now will you excuse me boy,
I cannot miss this game."

The Dash

I've seen death stare me in my own eyes
The way many of you cannot know,
I've seen death take others
But still left me here below.

I've heard many screams and many cried
But death refused to hear.
And in my life I've seen faces
filled with many many tear.

After death has come and gone
the tombstone still left for many to see.
Itās no more than a symbol of a persons memory.

I've seen my share of tombstones
But never took the time to truly read.
The meaning what's behind there for all the others to see.

Under the personās name
it read the date of birth - dash and the date the person passed.
The more I think about the tombstone
the only important thing is the dash.

Yes, I see the name of the person
but that I might forget
And I also read the date of birth and death
But even that might not stick.

But thinking about the individual
In fact, I canāt help it but to remember the dash.
Because it represents a personās life
and that will always last.

So when you begin to chart your life
Make sure you're on a positive path.
Because people may forget your birth and death
but will never forget your dash.
