The Jeff Yalden Foundation’s mission is to prevent suicide, improve community mental health, and shatter the stigma of mental health by initiating a positive movement to speak up and reach out.
The Jeff Yalden Foundation was formed in 2018 to bring mental health awareness and suicide prevention to school communities across the country. Too many teens are impacted by their friends making that forever decision. School administrators and counselors are searching for answers and asking for help. Whether it is being proactive and talking to teens about suicide and teaching the signs, symptoms, and advocating for mental health or crisis intervention, Jeff Yalden is an expert on teen suicide and suicide prevention/crisis intervention.
Our goal for the second half of 2018 is to create an app (currently working on this project) to give teens a safe space where they can reach out and know there is a trusted adult on the other end who will listen, validate their feelings, take their time to build the trust and respect and they will proceed with doing the right thing. That will include finding out information about the person, where they’re reaching out from, their address, phone number, parents name, school, etc. Working with teens and getting them to open up isn’t easy and takes time, but we need to do a better job providing these services.
Also, it is our goal to be able to provide posters and educational resources to classrooms and schools all over the country. Your donation will help us help school communities educate, train school staff and teachers, and give hope and inspiration to those reaching out to Jeff.
We intend to silence the stigma of mental illness, help those addicted to drugs, alcohol, and today’s opioids crisis through a combination of treatment navigation, educational initiatives, recovery mentoring, and support services.
The Jeff Yalden Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) organization. All donations directly support the mission, programs and initiatives of The Jeff Yalden Foundation.
